How target share is calculated
Target share = player targets ÷ all recorded team targets in the selected window × 100. The denominator includes every position, including running backs and tight ends. It is not pass attempts: throwaways and other untargeted passes do not count. Season shares divide summed counts rather than averaging weekly percentages.
A traded player has separate entries for each team. Team targets include games the player missed, so this is share of the team’s whole window, not share only while active. Games listed counts the player’s source appearances. Players with no targets are omitted; missing data is not an assumed zero. Rounded shares may not add to exactly 100%.
Use volume and share together
A large share of a low-volume offense can still produce fewer opportunities than a smaller share elsewhere. Compare the targets column, recent window and snap counts before treating a role change as durable. One injury-shortened game or unusual game script can move a weekly share sharply. Targets are not catches, air yards or red-zone opportunities.
