If a quarterback throws 35 passes and one receiver is targeted 10 times, that's a 29% target share — elite, WR1 territory. Because targets are far more predictable week to week than touchdowns, a high target share is a strong signal that a player's production is real and sustainable.
Target share is especially valuable in PPR, where every catch scores. A receiver commanding 25%+ of his team's targets has the volume to be a weekly starter even through scoring droughts.
