If a team runs 65 offensive plays and a running back is on the field for 45 of them, that's a 69% snap share — a clear lead back. A rising snap share, especially for a young player, is often the first sign of a coming breakout before the box-score production catches up.

Snap share is most useful at running back, where playing-time splits in a committee directly cap a player's opportunity. Pairing snap share with target share gives a fuller picture of a player's role.
