Because you only care about the upcoming season, redraft values are about this-year production: a productive veteran is just as valuable as a young breakout if their projected points are equal. Redraft is the most common format for casual leagues and is the easiest entry point for new players.
Redraft is a single-season game, so age, long-term upside, and rookie draft capital matter much less than in dynasty. You're optimizing for points right now, not years from now.
